Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. Failure to follow may result in injury or damage.

  1. Work Area Safety: Use in dry, well-ventilated area. Keep away from flammable materials.
  2. Personal Safety: Wear safety glasses. Do not touch battery clamps together.
  3. Battery Safety: Ensure battery is 12V lead-acid type. Check for cracks or leaks before charging.
  4. Electrical Safety: Plug charger into grounded outlet. Do not use damaged cords or clamps.
  5. Connection Order: Connect clamps to battery FIRST (Red to positive, Black to negative), THEN plug into AC outlet.
  6. Disconnection Order: Unplug from AC outlet FIRST, THEN disconnect clamps from battery.

WARNING! Risk of explosion! Keep sparks, flames, and smoking away from battery. Do not charge frozen batteries.

Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Ensure all parts are present and undamaged.

  1. Prepare Battery: If installed in vehicle, turn off ignition and all electrical loads. Clean battery terminals.
  2. Connect Clamps: Attach RED clamp to positive (+) terminal. Attach BLACK clamp to negative (-) terminal or vehicle chassis ground.
  3. Verify Connections: Ensure clamps have solid metal-to-metal contact.
  4. Power On: Plug charger AC cord into grounded wall outlet.
  5. Observe LED: Charger will automatically begin charging sequence; LED will indicate status.

CAUTION! Do not connect to a 6V or 24V battery. Ensure polarity is correct to avoid damage.

Specifications

Controls and Indicators

The charger has a single multi-color LED indicator and automatic operation.

LED Status Guide:

LED Color/PatternMeaningAction
Solid REDBulk/Absorption ChargingCharging in progress. Wait.
Flashing REDBattery Voltage Too Low or FaultCheck connections. Battery may be deeply discharged or damaged.
Solid GREENFloat Mode / MaintenanceBattery is fully charged. Charger maintains battery.
Flashing GREENCharging CompleteBattery is charged. Disconnect when convenient.
Alternating RED/GREENReverse Polarity DetectedImmediately disconnect. Check and correct clamp connections.
No LightNo Power / FaultCheck AC power and connections.

Automatic Operation: No user controls. Charger automatically selects chemistry and charging profile based on detected battery voltage.

Charging Procedures

Follow these steps for safe and effective charging.

  1. Preparation: Ensure battery is in a safe, ventilated location. Remove any conductive jewelry.
  2. Connection: Connect clamps securely to battery terminals (RED to +, BLACK to -).
  3. Power On: Plug charger into AC outlet. LED will illuminate.
  4. Monitoring: Observe LED. Solid Red indicates normal charging. Process is automatic.
  5. Completion: When LED turns Solid Green or Flashing Green, charging/maintenance is complete.
  6. Disconnection: UNPLUG charger from AC outlet first. Then remove BLACK clamp, followed by RED clamp from battery.
  7. Storage: Coil cords neatly and store in a dry place.

For Deeply Discharged Batteries: Charger may flash red. Leave connected; it may take several minutes to begin charging if recovery is possible.

WARNING! Never leave charger connected to a battery indefinitely without periodic checks.

Maintenance & Storage

Unplug and disconnect before cleaning. Inspect periodically.

  1. Cleaning: Wipe exterior with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use liquids or solvents.
  2. Inspection: Regularly check power cord and clamps for cracks, fraying, or damage.
  3. Clamp Care: Clean clamp jaws with a wire brush if corroded to ensure good contact.
  4. Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.

CAUTION! Do not open the charger casing. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
